Indie Western - Horse Stop Set

Horse Stop exterior, on location near Alexandra, Central Otago. Zoe and I had to rebuild the front of this building and replace some of the roofing planks, with the help of John.
Below: the interior which we had to build in studio, with some expert builders helping us to erect the structure to our specifications we then aged the wood, made all the large props, sourced small props and dressed the set.

Tonight We Learn to Dance - StudentSoul Production 2006

Tonight We Learn to Dance is a musical drama set in a hospital.
For this set I designed a moving backdrop that folded in different ways to create 4 different scenes.
(from left) 1. The hospital room 2. The hospital lounge 3. Outside the nurses quarters 4. (not shown) rugby grandstand
The Magician's Nephew - DCBC Productions 2005
For this production I was the set designer for the 'creation scene'. I engineered the way the trees 'grew' from being flat on the ground to growing as Aslan breathed on them. I made the construction patterns and fabricated the trees.
below are the stage images of the trees growing as well as the rest of the animals and vegetation that was created by Aslan in this scene. The trees are like chinese lanterns and 'grow' from the ground up while being pulled on invisible thread from the ceiling.

Building sets is what I love to do most, however I have done some prop buying and set dressing as well. Above: Chinese medicine hut and Indian Medicine hut. These were done for the Indie Western film I worked on in 2008 directed by Mike Wallis
